The Healthcare Reform bill which was passed last night in the U.S. House of Representatives contains the provisions of The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act! Here is the final language included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This historic progress signals the end of silent stigma that has disrupted and ended the lives of America's mothers for decades. The bill has been signed by President Obama and is now law!

Encourage other mothers, friends and family members to sign on to encourage its funding and implementation as well! In no other illness does the health and well-being of one individual so directly affect the development, health and well-being of another!

UPDATE: Mikulski Amendment now also now included in the passed senate version of The Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act. This amendment encourages screening for postpartum depression and other women's medical issues. While not a part of The MOTHERS Act, we welcome and support this additional mandate which was the FIRST amendment introduced and passed in the healthcare reform bill!
