Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act becomes Law!!!!
To add your name to the state by state listing of those who support robust funding of The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act, send an email with your name, state and any affiliation or credential (and none is more important than that of mother).

New! Watch the celebration of the bill's passage above, May 6, 2010.  The Healthcare Reform bill which was passed last night in the U.S. House of Representatives contains the provisions of The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act! Here is the final language included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This historic progress signals the end of silent stigma that has disrupted and ended the lives of America's mothers for decades. The bill has been signed by President Obama and is now law!

Thank you to everyone who signed this petition which will continue in order to encourage robust funding of this new law!!  The listing of its supporters will remain online and continue to grow until the new bill is funded, implemented and every state has responded to its initiatives! Thank you for your continuing commitment to this long sought federal mandate!

Two things you can do today to continue to show your support!

1. Add your name to the state by state constituent listings to support the bill's funding
by emailing us your permission to be included on the state by state listings, by sending your name, state and any affiliation.

2. Encourage other mothers, friends and family members to sign on to encourage its funding and implementation as well!  In no other illness does the health and well-being of one individual so directly affect the development, health and well-being of another!

UPDATE: Mikulski Amendment now also now included in the passed senate version of The Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act. This amendment encourages screening for postpartum depression and other women's medical issues. While not a part of The MOTHERS Act, we welcome and support this additional mandate which was the FIRST amendment introduced and passed in the healthcare reform bill!
